Official Blitzkrieg: Rolling Thunder Map - Grey Tigers

Summer 1942. From the virgin forests of New Guinea to the far reaches of the North Atlantic Ocean, ground, naval and air forces of the Axis and the Allies clash for an upper hand in the Second World War. It is also a period defined by a global race to rapidly develop new and more powerful weapons, with all major participants seeking those which will yield the definitive upper hand.

The Soviet Union has recently raised the bar with its seemingly indestructible and mass-produced T-34; then there is the Soviet KV-2, a vehicle whose sheer mass and impenetrable armor seemingly redefine the term “heavy battle tank”.

In response, German engineers have been trying to develop a counterpunch, a new heavy tank of their own on which the officer corps pins its hopes for a decisive role in the war. The German High Command plans to create elite shock units: the most experienced tank commanders and crews will be brought together to form powerful units that will be the first to field the newest German tanks.

Your unit is assigned to the Southern Russian steppe along the Eastern Front. You are currently equipped with PzKpfw IV – once the pride of Germany’s armor corps; now woefully under-armored and outgunned by the latest Soviet creations. If you prove yourself worthy in battle, you will find yourself among the elite, and you’ll be selected to lead a unit equipped with the brand new PzKpfw VI, dubbed “Tiger” for its anticipated ferocity, to smash the Soviet opposition.
